Lauri Dalla Valle, the one to watch?
Tipped as “a name for the future” by fellow Fin, Sami Hypia, this 18-year-old attacking midfielder is proving to be a player with potential and has been likened to Fernando Torres for his playing style.
He scored 2 goals for the under 18’s last year and then progressed to the Reserves where despite three cruciate ligament operations he has battled through to secure Liverpool a place in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup.
The youngster scored an excellent opening goal in the fixture against Tranmere Rovers and along with a strike from David Amoo and an own goal to win they will now go on to meet either Skelmersdale or Everton in the final.
Liverpool scout Ian Barrigan was quoted as referring to Dalla Valle as “the most natural finisher in the history of the Academy”, and his talents have certainly been noticed by others with rumours circulating that Chelsea were an interested party at one time.
Lauri says that Sami Hypia is someone he looks to for inspiration and right now he has no intention of moving on, as his goal is to play for the first team like his mentor. Liverpool is very popular in the Nordic countries and he says that this was one of the reasons he decided to join the Academy from JIPPO in 2008.
